Call for Submissions

Submissions are invited for the 25th Anniversary Systems Engineering Test and Evaluation Conference, being held from 11-13 May 2020 at the Rydges South Bank, Brisbane, Australia.

Submissions are now being accepted for the Conference.

SUBMIT YOUR PAPER OR INDUSTRY PRESENTATION

Paper or Industry Presentation submissions for SETE 2020 must be submitted under one of the following sub-themes:

  • Systems Engineering in the life cycle
  • Systems Integration, Test and Evaluation Techniques
  • Systems Architecture, needs, requirements and technologies
  • Critical Infrastructure
  • Defence Systems
  • Health & Medical Systems

If you wish to submit a Paper or Industry Presentation submission for consideration by the Technical Committee, you must also intend to register for the conference. Online submission is the only accepted method for all submission types.

Note: Selected papers will be invited to submit an extended version of their paper for consideration in Systems Engineering special issue of Australian Journal of Multi-Disciplinary Engineering (AJMDE)

Submissions are now being accepted for the Conference, aligned with the Conference themes and one or more of the sub-themes and in one of the following formats:

Industry (Paperless) Presentation

Submissions are invited on case studies and practical experience in the form of a presentation, with the abstract to summarise the content aligned with the Conference theme and sub-themes.  These are "non-referred" submissions that are reviewed by the Conference Technical Committee for inclusion in the program.

Research and/or Application Full Paper

Submissions for refereed papers are invited for oral presentations, aligned with the conference theme and sub-themes and are subject to formal peer review by the Conference Technical Committee. Download the Research and/or Application Full Paper Template here.

Panel/Forum Discussion Sessions

Submissions for this format encourages the exchange of ideas and experiences on various SE subjects by researchers, practitioners and other experts.  Persons with differing points-of-view are encouraged to create a dialogue and promote interaction with participants.  Submissions are reviewed by the Conference Technical Committee for inclusion in the program. Download the Panel/Forum Discussion Sessions Template here.

Workshops

Submissions are invited for workshops focused around the identification and development of systems engineering concepts and products of benefit to society and are reviewed by the Conference Technical Committee for inclusion in the program. Download the Workshops/Tutorials Template here.

Tutorials

Submissions are invited for half or full day sessions that provide training or knowledge transfer on a specific topic relevant to SE knowledge and practice aligned with the Conference theme and sub-themes.  Submissions are reviewed by the Conference Technical Committee for inclusion in the program.

Exhibition of Tools and Services

Submissions are invited from industry and individuals to demonstrate products and services relevant to SE enterprises and practitioners, students and academics, and are reviewed by the Conference Technical Committee for inclusion in the program. Download the Exhibition of Tools and Services Template here

General Policies and Requirements for Submissions

Important Information

  • A maximum of two people can present a full paper submission but both presenters must be registered to attend the Conference.
  • If the submission is accepted, consent is provided for the presentation slides (for oral presenters), video, audio recording and photos taken during the oral presentation to be used and published by SETE 2020 including being provided to delegates of SETE 2020.
  • Online submission is the only method for submissions for SETE 2020.

How to make a submission for SETE 2020

  • An account must be created in order to make a submission.
  • Upon creating an account submitting authors will be asked to verify their email address. If a verification email is not received, please check the spam or junk folder.
  • Once account has been created and in the abstract portal, ensure you fill in all the fields required. 
  • Refer to the templates tab in the online portal to view the selected format guidelines required for your submission to be successfully reviewed.
  • You can save a submission as a draft and return at a later date to complete/edit.  Log into the online account and by selecting the "Edit Abstracts" you will be able to edit your submission. Once completed and the submit button is used to submit your submission, you will not be permitted to edit your submission.

Submission Guidelines

  • All submissions must be prepared in the format specified in the Submission Guideline
  • The submission must be written in English.
  • It is the responsibility of the presenting author to ensure that the submission is submitted correctly.
  • Authors must provide a biography (maximum of 100 words) and photograph (a passport style photograph in high resolution up to 2MB) at the time of submission. Photos and bios for co-authors may also be provided but are optional.

Post submitting

  • Upon submission, authors will be sent a confirmation email. Please contact [email protected] if a confirmation email is not received.
  • The submission should not be resubmitted for any reason other than if notified of a submission error.
  • Authors can view their submissions by returning to their online account and by selecting "Edit Abstracts". Edits cannot be made once a submission has been completed and submitted.

Requirements

  1. By submitting a Paper/Industry Presentation authors agree to the General Policies and Requirements listed above and the Speaker/Author Agreement
  2. Accepted presenters must be registered for the Conference by 6 April 2020.
  3. All presenting authors are required to register and pay to attend the Conference to ensure their submission is included in the final program, no funding or discounts are available to presenters.

Members of Engineers Australia can claim CPD hours for presenting at and attending SETE 2020.
